2015 Hall Of Fame Nominations Now Open!

Nomination deadline is January 9!

It’s time to begin the exciting process of electing new members to the Design Bloggers Hall of Fame! Many thanks to Traditional Home and Ethan Allen for sponsoring the 2015 Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame Awards.

Design Bloggers…it’s your time to be recognized on the global new media stage! We are excited to announce that nominations for the Design Bloggers Hall of Fame are now open. We are also excited to announce that this year’s awards will be sponsored by Traditional Home, our National Media sponsor. The role of the Hall of Fame is to recognize excellence in blogging and new media in the field of interior design. Each year, a new set of outstanding design blogs will become eligible through an open, online nomination process leading up to the ultimate recognition as Hall of Fame inductee.

The winners, and runner ups, will be determined through a combination of ratings by a panel of judges and a public vote. The awards will be presented live, and the inductees recognized during the 2015 Design Bloggers Conference at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta on February 26, 2015.

Nominate a Blog Now!

The Rules

Here is how the  Design Bloggers Conference Hall of Fame Awards process works:

  • The awards are open to any English-language design blog.
  • The nomination period will start on December 11, 2014, and continue through the end of the day (Eastern Standard Time) on January 9, 2015. Nominations are open to the public and will be made via the Design Bloggers Conference website (see below to nominate a blog). A nomination can be made by simply adding a comment to the page for the designated category nominating the blog for consideration. Each blog nominated for a category will be included in the selection process; additional nominations for a blog in the same category will have no effect, so once a blog is nominated for a category there is no reason to nominate it again.
  • A panel of expert judges will evaluate all the nominated blogs for each category during the period January 9 – January 16, 2015 and will select the top five blogs in each category.
  • The public will be given the opportunity to vote for the finalists of each category from January 19 – February 6, 2015.
  • Each category winner will be chosen based on 50% of the input coming from the judges and 50% coming from the public vote.
  • The awards will be presented live at the Design Bloggers Conference at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta on February 26, 2015.

We look forward to your participation!

Suzanne Kasler to Speak at Phipps Plaza

On Sunday afternoon, March 2, prior to the Welcome Reception that kicks off the Design Bloggers Conference, we’ve arranged an excursion for attendees to Phipps Plaza in Atlanta. There you’ll see some of the latest kitchen designs, shop, and hear Suzanne Kasler share her thoughts on design.

Suzanne Kasler is inspired. As the principal of Atlanta-based Suzanne Kasler Interiors, she often asserts that “a room should be collected, not decorated.” Incorporating the personal collections of her clients with fine art and antiques, contemporary pieces and custom-designed furniture, Suzanne’s meaningful interiors straddle that rare middle ground between sophisticate and ingénue. As a graduate of the University of Cincinnati’s College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning, Suzanne brings a comprehensive knowledge of interior architecture and decorative arts to her design work.

Suzanne’s classic interiors have been featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Traditional Home and Veranda. Her widely published work has won numerous awards, placing Suzanne among the elite of America’s top designers. For the past three years, Suzanne was named to Elle Décor’s “A-List” of top designers in the country, and for the past two years, Suzanne was chosen for Architectural Digest’s AD100. In the fall of 2009, Rizzoli published Suzanne’s first book, Inspired Interiors, and in October 2013 they published her second book, Timeless Style, a lavishly illustrated volume that showcases her residential success, from her own elegant Regency-style house in Atlanta’s Buckhead to a family-oriented New England classic stone house in Greenwich, and a glamorous neoclassical country house in Columbus, Georgia.

In 2008, Suzanne launched a line of furniture for Hickory Chair, along with a collection of lighting for Visual Comfort. Her signature style of casual elegance has since been interpreted into a line of rugs with Safavieh, fine art with Soicher-Marin, accessories with Ballard, and fabrics with Lee Jofa.

Although her brand has expanded exponentially over the last few years, Suzanne remains true to her passion for designing interiors: “Being able to work as a designer is a gift—an amazing opportunity to connect to people and design spaces that inspire them.”

Tobi Fairley to Host Design Bloggers Hall of Fame Awards

We are excited to announce that Tobi Fairley will be hosting this year’s Design Bloggers Hall of Fame Awards. Tobi is already a Hall of Fame member, having won the award last year for Best Overall Design Blog.

Tobi Fairley creates interiors that are bright, bold and tailored. She works on the forefront of the New Traditional movement in residential design, and her vision for a given space is always grounded in an ethic of problem solving, the results of which are always beautiful as well as functional. This signature aesthetic earned her recognition as one of Traditional Home’s Top 20 Young Designers of 2009.

Tobi founded her design firm more than a decade ago, and her exquisite interiors span the US, from New York City and the Hamptons to Charleston and Los Angeles. Her award-winning designs for high-profile and celebrity clients have been featured on HGTV, and her work has been published on the cover of House Beautiful and showcased in the pages of Traditional Home, Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Living.

Walton College of Business, where she was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year for 2009.  This blend of expertise uniquely qualifies her as an industry leader in the business of Interior Design. Tobi shares the benefits of her knowledge and experience with other design professionals through an array of consulting services, information products, and on-site courses through Tobi Fairley Academy.

Always ready to embrace the latest in social media and internet technologies, Tobi emerged as a national presence by fully utilizing the capabilities of social media. Tobi’s Blog commands a sizeable online audience; currently read in more than 124 countries worldwide, it has been recognized by HGTV and by the Design Bloggers Conference as a key source for daily design inspiration. Tobi also writes a monthly design column, “Tobi’s Tips,” for AY magazine, a blog column for At Home in Arkansas magazine called “Color Confidential,” and she is a regular contributor to Williams Sonoma’s “Designer Marketplace.” Also spurred by her innovative spirit, Tobi’s e-design service—InBox Interiors—allows D.I.Y. clients to achieve the “Tobi look” for a fraction of the cost of her full-service designs.

Tobi Fairley Home, a collection of fabrics, pillows and lighting designed by Tobi, debuted as part of Hickory Chair’s Centennial Furniture Collection in the Fall of 2011.
