You had me at Nate
by Megan PesceSo when the Design Bloggers Conference announced that Nate Berkus was going to be a keynote I pretty much booked my plane ticket right there and then. You see, when I was AT Oprah I had the opportunity to meet Nate. Well, it might not have been an opportunity as much as it was looking back from our seats to wave at our friend Kristian (who might really be in O’s inner circle) and see that Nate is standing behind him at the control desk. NATE BERKUS. My heart was racing… read more.
Inspiration and Insight at the Atlanta Design Bloggers Conference
It was a week of heartwarming conversations and talent at the #DBCATL
By Kelly Anne BonnerEven though it was snowing when we arrived at the Atlanta International Airport, the nousDECOR team left the Atlanta Design Bloggers Conference feeling warm and fuzzy. After meeting a host of talented designers and bloggers and watching uplifting talks, we can’t help but feel the afterglow of the event. And that wasn’t all—during our stay, we worked with Dwell with Dignity to raise money for our next project, which will involve bringing the beautiful world of design to a family in need. We managed to raise $10,000 towards our goal thanks to the generosity of the attendees, for which we could not be more grateful. You can still donate to our Design Matters project and find out more about it….Read more.

What You Want
by Kristin Woodson Harvey… the Design Bloggers Conference was so much fun! I’ll be honest, I wasn’t really looking forward to it that much. I didn’t know what to expect at all, but it was a blast. My mom and I met so many amazing people — designers, bloggers, writers, magazine editors. The parties were totally five star (Thank you Sunbrella, Ethan Allen, Traditional Home and Pirch!) and everyone was so nice. I don’t think I had expected everyone to be so warm and welcoming and gracious.
The highlights were probably hearing Bunny Williams and Nate Berkus speak. Bunny (I’m just going to call them by their first names like we’re friends.)…read more

The Design Bloggers Conference, Winter Woes, and a New Issue Hits the Newsstands
The New England Home editorial team just returned from the Design Blogger Conference in Atlanta, where it seemed easier to catch up with a number of members of our Boston design community than it does on our home turf. The city did shut down because of a few flurries but it certainly was no big deal for the New England contingency. Elizabeth Benedict, Mally Skok, Megan Pesce all made it out of Boston and enthralled other designers with their tales of snow woes.

Where Design Goes Digital: An Interview with Adam Japko, Founder of The Design Bloggers’ Conference
By Jennifer SergentAdam Japko founded the Design Bloggers’ Conference five years ago, when he was leading the Digital Sherpa online marketing firm, and creating Design Sherpa, a division dedicated to design-industry clients. At that point in the Great Recession, he says, “everyone was looking for a way to feel good about something,” while online content and social media were gaining ground in terms of how people were searching for great design.
Japko, now the CEO of Esteem Media, which owns Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles and New England Home magazines, believed bringing bloggers together with professional designers could be a powerful combination. “I thought, ‘This is exactly what these people in the design industry could benefit from.’”
And have they ever. The entrepreneur sat down with The HighBoy to talk about the confluence of blogging and design—and the conference that celebrates it. Read more.
